New Book Series
So... I don't read much. I definately did not inherit mom's love of reading!! But, sean likes reading at night before bed so I have started to read more often. I like reading lots of fantasy type books, I seem to enjoy them the best. Some of the series I've read are Dragon Riders of pern and Dragon Lance.
I was recently introduced to a new series called the Twilight Series. Its written by Stephenie Meyer. I love it. The basic story without giving anything away is its a story about a girl who falls in love with a vampire. I love it. I started reading the book thursday night a finished Sunday. I have not read a book that fast since the first few Harry potter books!!
My favorite thing about the book is that the author writes in the first person so it feels like you are reading a diary.
I will tell you that it is a hard book to put down!! I have decided that I am no longer able to read at night because last night I got book 2 and read 80 pages until one am!!
Anyway, I highly recommend it. If you go to the bookstore and look for it, its being selved in young adult.

Skillet, Bruised Foot
So the local grocery store H-E-B has coupon deals all the time. It is fabulous because they hang the tickets around the store. Every couple of weeks they do a big meal deal where you by two or three things and get a bunch of other things free. Well, this weeks meal deal was really cool so we decieded to go for it.
We Bought: fajita seasoned chicken, shredded cheese = $7.00
We got for free: sour cream, soda, refriead beans, tortillas, jalapenos and a skillet. that all came to $11.
It was a fantastic deal and we ahve always wanted a skillet. Well we get home and get the groceries inside on the table and start getting everything put away. I grab the skillet boxc and start opening it cuase I want to take a look. I was balancing the edge of the box on the table but it slipped off and yes you guessed it, landed corner side down right on my foot. It hurt SOO bad. Sean immediately helped me to the couch and got me ice. It didn't swell, but man what a bruise!!!
At work it hurt to wear a shoe so I walked around all day with only one shoe on!!
P.S. I've updated my craft with a new blog. Its a halloween decoration. The website is www.creativecompilation.blogspot.com
More Favorite Cake
So Spetember is a big birthday month here for us, Seans was on the 4th , our roommates Beccas was on the 17th, then mine on the 22nd and finally Pauls on the 24th. We have had a lot of cake. We are having a lot of fun with our new favorite cake tradition. Here is the latest 3 cakse we have made.
Beccas Favorites: The color blue, m&m's (layer inside) nerds (layer inside) Swimming (we made little marshmellow men swimmers with m&m lanes, so cute!!) and mice (Becca works in the psychology lab doing research on Alsymers using mice and rats), and lastly reeses peanut butter cup (the mouse has it in its hole)
Rachelle's Favorites: The cake had a layer of reeses peanut butter cup mixed with coolwhip. YUMMY. So as you can see there are swedish fish swimming around the cake and some gummy worms. On the top Sean created an island with sandy candy and there are mini gummy bears on the top fishing!!! WAY CUTE!!
Paul's favorites: To understand this cake you have to understand that paul talks about poop alot. ITs like his favorite topic so we decided to make him a toilet cake. The cake itself if choclate with a layer of whatchamacallit in the middle. I cut a hole in the cake and put a bowl in there to hold the lemon drops and couple of tootsie rolls took look like poop in the toilet. Sean was in charge of the rice crispy treat base and tank. Then we filled it with toosie rolls, peanut m&ms and more whatchamacallits.
Hurricane Ike
Ok, so i was never able to get the video I had of the storm to load on the blog so I am just going to blog about it. On the friday before the hurricane we stayed up pretty late watching CNN report on the coastal regions as the hurricane rolled in. Lucky of rus the storm did not go very far west so we were on the clean side of the storm.\
We were suprised when the phone rang at 9:30am because we were expecting the storm to wake us up. We got up and started looking outside. there was tons of rain. We kept watching the rain and the wind gusts. we figured the rain gusts were around 30 mph!! it was really cool to watch. The video we have is really cool because I am narrating as i am first noticing things but oh well its not working.
Anyway, the coolest thing in my mind was the sky. The entire sky was filled with clouds that were moving at a fast pace. The entire sky was rotating. I mean, I've been in heavy rain and been in heavy wind but the sky is what made me stop and actually realize that I was looking at a hurricane. It was amazing!!
Hurricane Ike
So i couldn't figure out how to upload a video on this blog so I blogged about our hurricane Ike experience on Seans website. Here is the webstie

Happy Favorite Birthday Cake
So Sean and I have a new tradition for birthdays. Its called a favorite cake. We started this tradition last month for our friend Joni's birthday. Her husband was still gone on his summer internship and she was going to be alone on her birthday so we made a cake. We came up with the idea of a favorite cake. Basically, the birthday person gives you a list of there favorite things, and the makers incorporate that into a cake.
The first pics are of Joni's cake: here are her favorites that were incorperated:
Hot pink, choclate covered marshmellows, red and yellow skittles (eaten as a group to form the best skittle combo) stripes, candy corn- they were in the middle, white cake.
So Sean's b-day was yesterday and I had the feat of making our second favorite cake. So here are pics of his cake too. Here is his list of favorites
Black and white, heath candy bar-layer in the middle, rice crispy treat-layer in the middle, white cake, circles (I asked sean his favorite shape and he said "symmetrical, and since circles are symmetrical in every direction intersecting the center point they are my favorite)
Hurricane Gustav
So nothing big is happening here but we have been keepng a close eye on the hurricane in the gulf. I as aware of it as early as last tuesday. Hurricanes in the gulf actually effect my job so we keep a close eye. When a hurricane effects par of Texas Nationwide, the insurance company we work for will suspend binding authority which means in those areas we can't start any policies or even change them. No deductibles can be changed or anything. Its quite stressful for us to try to explain to people. We get lots of calls from people who only want to get insurance as soon as there is a threat in the area. As of friday at 5pm we had a suspension for the northern east side of texas including houston area which is an hour and a half south east from us.
In case you are all wondering where we are in realation to the hurricane, the picture is off of the weather.com site showing where the storm is on 8/31 at 11:00 pm. I have highlighted and starred the county where sean and I live. We are really far away from the effected area. The most we will get is rain.
just thought I'd let you know how the hurricane is effecting us. Hope everyone has a good labor day!
Random Blog
So I've been trying to think of anything new or fun to blog about but this week has benn pretty much the same. But I don't think I have told anyone really about our new roommate.
Our friend Becca back in April was telling us about how she was stressed because she had to find a new place to live because her current house she rented with two roommates was no longer available. She had 3 months to find somewhere to live (her roommates are moving back home). The biggest problem was that her mom who is paying for her schooling has stipulations as to her living conditions. Her mom doesn't want her living with anyone she doesn't know but the biggest problem was that her mom was giving her $400 a month for housing and wont let Becca work more than part time while in school. The cheapest thing she could find was for $550 a month.
Thats where Sean and I come in. We talked it over and thought that we could offer Becca our spare room and it would be a win win situation. So she has moved in Two and a half weeks ago. The real big change for us is that Becca has a dog. A big dog and Sean and I are not big pet people, if we had a pet it would be an outdoor dog. Becca's dog is an indoor dog and is really well trained but its a real change for Sean and I to get used to. (Also, Beccas boyfriends dog which is a huskee also stays with us on the weekends,)
Anyway, I think thats all. Well I am excited to see everyone in alittle over a week!
